Whether or not IBM Plans To Enter Netbook CPU Market?
It's not surprising that enterprise is swallowing at the bit to plunder some of Intel Atom's thunder: ARM-powered netbooks will be soon released, while VIA Nano is already here. At present, IBM has announced that it's evaluating a 28nm processor that is presupposed to power netbooks the same as smart phones. According IBM confirmations, we can expect 40 percent improved effectiveness than today's 28nm, processors; almost the same situation is with a 20 percent reduction in power consumption. These processors will become available in the second half of 2010. Nevertheless I wander, if ultra-thin notebooks, equipped with Intel CULV and AMD Yukon, do in all conscience back-pedal netbooks' momentum, as some industry insiders have forecasted, then the following question is reasonable, how forward-looking will yet another netbook processor be by late 2010? Will IBM be too late to the party?
