VIA Surfboard C855 Is a Netbook Integrating Board that Supports Full HD Video Read Operation

Currently there was presented the Surfboard C855 Reference Design from VIA, a netbook integrating board that supports corroborate full HD video read operation.

According to chip makers statements the VIA Surfboard C855, which provides "flawless playback of high bit-rate 1080p HD video", comes with a C7-M ULV processor and the Chrome9 integrated graphics. Among integrated parts there are the netbook platform supports internal display resolutions of up to 1366 x 768 pixels, hardware decoding of H.264, MPEG-2/4, VC-1 and WMV9 video standards and external display resolutions up to 1920 x 1440 pixels. You will also find there Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, the surfboard C855 also incorporates 8-channel HD audio and 3G connectivity.

As it was stipulated in the specifications sheet the device was rigged with one memory socket for up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM and support for 2.5" and 1.8" HDDs.

Unfortunately we failed to get any substantial information on availability of C855-based netbooks.
