ASUS P80 - 14"Business Laptop Released by Asustek
The ASUS P80 business laptop, featuring a 14-inch display and Intel's new Anti-Theft technology was recently released by Asustek. The ASUS P80 business laptop features up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, a DVD burner, up to 320GB of hard drive space, an Intel Core 2 Duo or Pentium CPU, as well as the P80A and P80Q models come with the Intel GMA X4500MHD (with HD decoder) and X4500M integrated graphics correspondingly, but need it to say that the P80Vc has the NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS 512MB dedicated GPU. You will see that the gadgets possess 14" 1366*768 anti-glare LED backlight displays with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Among other integrated parts you will get the Intel WiMAX/WiFi Link 5100, a Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, a 1.3MP web camera, a 7-in-1 media card reader, two USB ports, optional Bluetooth, a VGA output, a 56k modem and as well as an eSATA/USB combo port. We failed to present any information on PC Card or ExpressCard slot. Here's how Asustek explains Intel Anti-Theft Technology, incorporated into the P80: "This new technology provides users with the ability to send a "poison pill" remotely, rendering the notebook inoperable by comprehensively shutting it down. As such, the risk resulting from a stolen or lost notebook is eliminated. Once the notebook has been recovered, a local pass phrase or recovery token can be used to reactivate the notebook". AI Pre-boot Finger Login, "from which consumer have to scrutinize their finger via the scanner prior to system boot-up" is one more laptop's security characteristic. Moreover, the AI Secure Delete which "consents users to phlegmatically obliterate any quick-response evidence thoroughly with no alternative for others to hunt out them". According to the manufacturer the ASUS P80 weighs 5.3 pounds and comes with a 6 cell battery and runs Windows Vista. It is expected that a smaller version of the notebook - the ASUS P30 will be developed in the near future. Unfortunately, there's no info on pricing and availability.
